  • Install, configure, and support an organization’s local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), internet network, intranet and internet and other data communications systems or a segment of a network system
  • Maintain network hardware and software
  • Monitor the network to ensure network availability to all system users and performs necessary maintenance to support network availability
  • May supervise other network-support and client-server specialists and plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures
  • Oversee network control centers
  • Provide support to projects that involve networks
  • Evaluate new network technologies and makes recommendations to project managers regarding the integration of these technologies into the existing network
  • Plan new network configurations and integration into existing networks to maintain optimal performance
  • Ensure that plans for hardware and communications are adequate
  • Develop and implement methodologies for analysis, installation, and support of voice communications systems
  • Provide support in the translation of business requirements into telecommunications (e.g., LAN, Metropolitan Area Network (MAN), WAN, voice and video) requirements, designs, and orders
  • Diagnose hardware and software problems and replace defective components
  • Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations
  • Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations
  • Monitor the performance of computer systems and networks
  • Perform routine network startup and shutdown procedures and maintains control records
  • Configure and tests hardware, networking software, and operating system software
  • Prepare technical proposals for presentation to the customer’s engineering review boards for adding new technologies to the network
  • Perform a full range of upgrades in accordance with existing network architecture
  • Review user requests for upgrades or additions to the network to assess impact on network performance
  • Perform long-term Operations and Maintenance activities to include tier 3 troubleshooting and problem resolution


  • TS/SCI CI Poly Clearance
  • 10 years of experience that can be a combination of work history and education. This equates to a Doctorate and 3 years, master’s and 4 years, bachelor’s and 6 years, associates and 8 years or HS diploma and 10 years.
  • Must be compliant with DoD 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2 (Security+ CE)
  • Experience specific to network engineering to include tier 3 or higher network operations and/or network design and implementation
  • Prior responsibility for production network hardware configurations for Cisco, Brocade, and/or Juniper
  • Hands-on experience implementing and troubleshooting standard routing protocols in a production network, such as OSPF or BGP
  • Hands-on experience implementing and troubleshooting standard switching and trunking protocols in a production network, such as VLANs, 802.1q, and port-channels
